Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior Database Architect with deep, hands-on DBA expertise to lead the design, optimization, and governance of mission critical database systems. This is a high impact role for a professional who blends strong architectural vision with real-world production troubleshooting experience. The ideal candidate will take ownership of database performance, availability, security, and scalability across large transactional environments.

Key Responsibilities

Database Architecture & Design

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance database architectures for enterprise applications.
• Lead data modeling, schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Define and enforce database standards, best practices, and governance policies.

Performance & Optimization

• Proactively monitor and tune production databases, addressing blocking, deadlocks, wait statistics, and execution plans.
• Optimize large transactional databases (100GB+ environments) for performance and reliability.
• Partner with development teams to ensure efficient SQL design and optimal data access patterns.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

• Design, implement, and maintain HA/DR solutions including Always On Availability Groups, replication, and clustering.
• Ensure robust backup, recovery, and failover strategies aligned with business SLAs.

Security & Compliance

• Implement database security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
• Ensure data protection, compliance, and secure transaction handling.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with application developers, architects, and infrastructure teams.
• Provide guidance and mentorship on database performance and design decisions.
• Support critical production issues with hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Required Experience & Skills

• 8+ years of experience in database development and/or administration.
• 5+ years in a Senior DBA or Database Architect role.
• Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and advanced T-SQL.
• Strong hands-on experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Proven experience implementing and supporting HA/DR in production environments.
• Deep understanding of locking behavior, isolation levels, concurrency, and transaction management.
• Experience supporting mission-critical, high-volume transactional systems.

Nice to Have / Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure SQL or cloud-based database platforms.
• Background in ERP systems or financial applications.
• Exposure to data warehousing, dimensional modeling, or Data Vault architecture.
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications.
